How much the mould wall rises above the pour.
Approximate material for sealing.

Why calculate the mould separately?

A mould has its own risks: leaks, walls that are too low, underestimated sealing length or too little material reserve. This calculator helps catch those issues before mixing resin.

What is the most common mistake?

Calculating only the mould floor and forgetting the pour height. The second common mistake is not leaving wall height above the planned resin level.

When should you run a test?

With a new mould material, new release agent or a large casting mass, always do a leak test and a small sample.

Why include seal coat?

Wood, board and some mould materials can release bubbles into the casting. A thin sealing coat reduces that risk, but it also uses material.

FAQ

Is an 8% reserve enough?

For a simple sealed mould it often is. With wood, cracks or a first test, use a larger reserve.

Is mould perimeter the tape length?

It is the minimum sealing length around the outline. In practice add overlap and corrections.

Can I pour up to the top edge?

It is better not to. Leave extra wall height because levelling and degassing can raise spill risk.
