How is a worktop different from a deep casting?

A worktop often means a thin layer, local cracks or a top coat rather than a full river casting. Area, millimetres of thickness and final finish matter more than bulk volume alone.

When should coverage percentage be used?

If epoxy does not cover the whole surface, enter the percentage of coverage. For knots or cracks, measuring several local volumes is more accurate.

What should you do after the result?

Move the assumptions to the main calculator, choose the resin system and save the variant in Studio as part of a client quote.

Where does margin usually disappear?

In substrate preparation, bubble corrections and additional sanding. That is why labour hours, resin allowance and delivery are separate inputs.

FAQ

Is top coat calculated like a casting?

No. A top coat is usually a thin layer per square metre, while a casting has depth and mass limits.

Is 3 mm of epoxy on a worktop a lot?

It depends on the system. It may be heavy for a coating, but small for a void fill. Check the product TDS.

Does the calculator include sanding?

It includes allowance and labour, but real machining depends on substrate quality and the expected finish.
